Chocolat started out as a small baking supplies store in Kalayaan Avenue on February 14, 2003. After a few months of operations, we displayed some baked goodies like chocolate cakes and brownies in our chiller just as an experiment, and to add to our sales as well.
But to our surprise, most of the bakers visiting our store returned not for the supplies but for our cakes. Although we still continued to sell baking supplies, we also began supplying cakes to badminton courts, school canteens and small coffee shops.
In 2006, store scouts from SM holdings who had tasted our cakes offered us a space in a new mall they were building in Pasay--The Mall of Asia! After much thinking, we finally said goodbye to baking supplies and decided to take the plunge and open our first desserts-only mall branch!
